Beginning September 5, 2008, HRBC’s Divorce Care group will meet on Friday nights at 7:00 PM. The Divorce Care For Kids (DC4K) group will also meet at this time. These groups will provide you with the ongoing “support team” that you need as you deal with the issues surrounding your separation or divorce.
DivorceCare
Separation and divorce are among life’s most difficult and painful experiences. You need the help and encouragement of others as you attempt to heal and restore balance to your life. A Divorce Care group is a special place of encouragement, information and sharing.
Each week there are two parts to the Divorce Care session. During the first 30-40 minutes of the meeting the group watches a videotape featuring top experts on divorce and recovery topics (see below for a list/description of topics). These tapes contain valuable information about recovering from divorce and are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format.
Following the video, the participants
spend time as a “support group,” discussing what was
presented on that week’s videotape and what is
going on in the lives of the group participants.
Watch the previews below or visit the DivorceCare website for more information.
DivorceCare4Kids (DV4K)
Are your children angry, hurt and confused about your divorce? Finding help for your children can be frustrating. DivorceCare for Kids, DC4K, provides a safe, fun place where your children will
Learn to understand their feelings
Express their emotions appropriately
Feel better about themselves
Develop coping skills
Be introduced to biblical concepts that will bring comfort
Some children struggle deeply with the separation and divorce, while others seem to bounce back quickly. In the long run, all children are affected. DC4K will help minimize and eliminate the short- and long-term negative effects of divorce on your children’s schoolwork, emotional health and spiritual life.
As your children begin to heal from the pain and confusion, their relationships with you, God and others will grow healthy and strong.
Both groups are facilitated by HRBC congregants that have been trained as facilitators. Each has either experienced divorce first-hand, or are products of a divorced family. They can empathize with you and provide scriptural answers to the dilemma you face on a daily basis. Our church body is committed to praying for those experiencing divorce and their family members.
